Age 81, died Monday, November 19, 2001, at ManorCare, Appleton. LaVerne was born on August 10, 1920, in Two Rivers to the late Wenzel “James” and Alva (Rice) Walesh. LaVerne married Norman Olsen on April 8, 1939, in Manitowoc. She was a teacher and supervisor at the College of Cosmetology (IBA) in Green Bay and Appleton for over 40 years. LaVerne was an avid Packer fan, attending games with her husband since 1952. Survivors include her husband of 62 years; her daughter, Judy Ihlenfeldt, Appleton; her son, John C. (Clarice) Olsen, Mountain; her grandchildren, Scott Ihlenfeldt, Randy (Sherri) Ihlenfeldt, Sherry Schimmel, Robin Olsen, Dawn (Todd) Newell and Darwin (Sue) Olsen; her ten great grandchildren; her brother Kenneth (Violet) Walesh; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Beatrice (Dan) Stelzer and her brother, James Walesh. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 23, 2001, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, Appleton, with Rev. Will Bloedow of First English Lutheran Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Angelus Retirement Community and ManorCare for their loving care.
