Kenneth D. Lightfield

Kenneth D. “Ken” Lightfield, age 52 of Appleton, passed away on June 6, 2016. Ken was born on June 17, 1963 in South Dakota. His parents are Ernie and Viola (Fuoss) Lightfield. He was a graduate of Brookings South Dakota High School. After graduation he attended South Dakota State University where he obtained a Bachlor's and later Master's Degree in Dairy Science. He was employed with Sargento Foods as a Senior Research Scientist. On May 25, 1985 he married Diane Kelsey in Brookings South Dakota and they spent the next 31 years raising a family.

More than anything, Ken loved his family. He loved being a father and attending his kid's sporting events and school activities. He was an active member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Appleton. Faith and his church were also very important to him. Ken was an all around “good guy”. He was gentle, genuine, non-judgmental and had a positive attitude. He was also selfless, thinking of others and very grateful for his family, friends and all the gifts life gave him.

He enjoyed pheasant hunting, especially with his favorite dog Booger, fishing and watching football.

He will be missed by his wife Diane, children: Spencer Lightfield of Eau Claire and Kelsey Lightfield of Appleton, sister Karen (Mike) Budde and brother John (Kimberly) Lightfield, mother Vi, mother-in-law Marlys Kelsey and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, who are all grateful for the additional 22 years we had with Ken after his kidney transplant.

He was preceded in death by his father Ernie.

A memorial Service for Ken will be on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 11:00am at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 803 E. College Avenue in Appleton. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00am to 10:45am. For more information and to express online condolences, please visit www.wichmannfargo.com.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Donations will be forwarded to Memorial Presbyterian Church and the Fox Valley Warming Shelter.
