Kathleen Grishaber

Kathleen Grishaber age 90 passed away Wednesday July 11th 2012 at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh.

Born December 10th 1921 as Kathleen Krause she grew up in Appleton. Kathleen fell in love with Ralph Grishaber and they were married on October 29th1941. After Ralph finished basic training Kathleen traveled to Shreveport Louisiana where Ralph was stationed at Barksdale Army Airfield. Kathleen worked at Penny's department store during this time and they lived in Shreveport until the end of the war and then returned to Appleton and started a family.

Kathleen had three children Steve, Chris, and Dave and all three of us gave mom cause for concern of different types over the years. Whatever the problem, situation, or seriousness of the issue, the response was always the same, love and support. As we grew older and mom had more time she developed apassion for gourmet cooking inspired by Julia Child. Holidays were always afeast. Mom enjoyed music and accompanied Ralph to see the Metropolitan Opera in Minneapolis formany years. In her later years mom enjoyed reading and watching the birds in the backyard until macular degeneration robbed her of the pleasure. She also greatly enjoyed her grandchildren.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Grishaber, her parents' Frederick and Catherine Krause and her brother Wayne (Buzz) Krause.

Kathleen is survived by her three children Steve Grishaber, Christine Braun (Grishaber) and David Grishaber(Mary), four grandchildren Steve Braun (Melanie), Jim Braun (Jessica), Elaine Tripp (Jason), and Anna Grishaber.

We also wish to recognize Mom's best friend through life, Rosella Van Vreede (Grishaber), our Aunt and Ralph's sister, as well Roland Grishaber our Uncle and Kathleen's Brother in Law.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Evergreen Retirement Community and Generations Hospice for their loving care in the final days.

The funeral liturgy for Kathleen will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 212 Appleton St, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. A private family only burial will take place later in the afternoon on Tuesday at St. Mary's Cemetery.
