“Kay”
Kathleen A. “Kay” Dearth, age 87, of Appleton, passed away at Brewster Village, Grand Chute, on Thursday, September 23, 2010. Kay was born on November 1, 1922, in the Town of Lebanon, to the late Emmett and Agnes (Rohan) Allen. She was a graduate of New London High School and the Oshkosh Teachers College. Kay taught at schools in Hilbert and Sturgeon Bay. She was also employed at H. C. Prange in Appleton. Kay married Leonard “Len” Dearth at 5:00 a.m. on May 23, 1945, at Camp Fannin, Texas; he preceded her in death on July 20, 2010. They built their home in Grand Chute in 1956-57 and lived there ever since. Both Leonard and Kay were active members of St. Bernard Catholic Church and were well-known for their volunteer activities. Kay was also an active member of St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include her seven nieces and nephews; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews; and many good friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her sister, Norene (James) O'Donnell. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2010, at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W. Pine Street, Appleton, with Fr. Richard Allen officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton, on Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and directly at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. There will be a Parish Prayer and Scripture Service at the funeral home on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Brewster Village and her friends at St. Bernard Catholic Church, for their loving care. A memorial has been established in her name.
