Kathleen A. Defferding

Kathleen Defferding, age 41, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011 after a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma. She was born in Appleton on August 1, 1970, daughter of Bill and Anne (Weber) Farrey. Kate married Corey Defferding on December 10, 1994 at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton, and together they operated Northland Electrical Services in New London. She was charmed by nature's beauty, and had a great love for animals, photography, contemporary culture, and technology.

Survivors include her parents: Bill and Anne Farrey of Appleton; her husband: Corey Defferding of New London; a son: Will at home; two sisters: Erin (Steve) DeLain of Red Wing, Minnesota and Shannon (Ryan Anauo) Farrey of Appleton; her father-in-law: Dennis Defferding of Greenville; her mother-in-law: Joette Wheeler of Appleton; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Kate will be dearly missed by all who knew, loved, and worked with her.

A memorial mass for Kate will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette Street in Appleton, with Fr. Thomas J. Farrell officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 3:30 PM until the time of the mass. A memorial fund is being established for some of Kate's favorite charities.

The family would like to offer their special thanks to the medical staff on the 7th floor at Appleton Medical Center and the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. We will never forget your kindness.
