Wilson, Katherine Ellen Schafer

Katherine Ellen Schaefer Wilson “Kay” 86, of Appleton, WI, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the Parkside Care Center in Little Chute. Mrs. Wilson was born March 28, 1924 in Henry IL to the late William and Louise (Engelbrecht) Schafer. She was a care giver to elderly people most of her life. Mrs. Wilson enjoyed collecting and organizing things. She believed that caring and serving others would bring her closet to God. I am grateful for my health and the life I have lived with my grandchildren. Mrs. Wilson loved her family and knew how to prepare herself for the needs in life; the ups and down of life; the struggles she had as a child all of which she managed to overcome and why she is the woman we all know today. Some of her favorite saying were “You better be good you never know who is watching”, “You better listen and be good”. Survivors include her three sons; Roger E. Wilson of Climax, GA, Alan L. Wilson, of Menasha, WI and Rodney G. Wilson of Appleton, WI, 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, a brother Harold Joseph Schafer of Waupaca, WI, a half sister Dorothy Jeanne Schmidt Eckhoff of Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, a half brother, Edward Francis Schmidt and a half sister, Cecelia Ann Schmidt Schuller. A memorial service for Kay will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 11:30 AM at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME with Rev. William Barwis officiating.
