Katherine J. Jones

Katherine (Kate) Jones, age 92, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at St. Paul Elder Services, Kaukauna, WI. She was born in Appleton, WI on October 1, 1919 to the late Edward and Mary Young.

After graduating from Appleton High School in 1937, Kate attended Lawrence College. On May 22, 1943 she married Vincent C. Jones at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Appleton. Vince preceded her in death on June 6, 1972.

In addition to doing volunteer work for the Benefits Circle of King's Daughters, Inc. and the Appleton Community Blood Center, Kate was employed in various positions by the Robinhood Dress Shop, Patricia Ross for Women and Chase Bank, where she remained until her retirement. In her later years, she volunteered at LEAVEN, served as a student mentor at Butte des Morts Elementary School, Menasha and was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Kate is survived by 5 children: Kathy Brautigam (Mike), Appleton; Marge Schreiter, Lockport, LA; Tom Jones (Barb), Stockbridge, WI; Mary Jones, Appleton; and Nancy Courter (Jason), Powder Springs, GA; 10 grandchildren: Kelley Scott (Russ); Chad Brautigam (Erin); Brian Schreiter (Mandy); Katie Shoaf (Jack); Bill Schreiter; Jesse (Kendra), Nick (Becky) and Ross (Tiffany) Jones; Emily and Ellen Courter; 8 great grandchildren: Hannah and Hayden Scott; Tyler, Ryan and Ethan Brautigam; Emma Shoaf; and Sydney and Zachary Jones, and several nieces and nephews and their families.

Besides her husband Vince, Kate was preceded in death by nephew Bobby MacDonald, son-in-law Tom Schreiter, brother Edward Young, sister Mary MacDonald (Scotty), and Vince's parents and two sisters.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, Saturday, June 2 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N McDonald St., Appleton with the Rev. Gerald Falk officiating. Visitation will be at the Church on Saturday from 9 am until the time of service. Private family inurnment will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds are being established for LEAVEN and St. Paul Elder Services.
