June C. VanDera, 86, passed away peacefully in the arms of her Lord, on Friday, February 5, 2021, with her family by her side. She was born on March 10, 1934, to the late Robert and Alvina (Norenberg) Nowak. In her early years, June worked at Tuttle Press on Lawe St., Appleton. She married Robert J. VanDera, on May 28, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton, they were married for 46 years. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she made many friends and enjoyed helping out with serving funeral dinners and other activities. She also enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her two daughters, cooking and baking, gardening, and completing puzzles. It was the little things in life that made her happy.
June is survived by her 6 children: Patricia Levick, Richard VanDera (special friend Jayne Maguire), twins Daniel and David VanDera, Roman VanDera (special friend Bonnie Young), and Debra (John) Wrase; 5 grandchildren: Melissa Langenhuizen, Tim Ofenbeck, James VanDera, Rose (Mark Stein) VanDera, Jennifer (Mike) Steidtman; 5 great grandchildren: Ian, twins Dakota and Daisy, Kylah, and Ava; and many other relatives and friends.
June was preceded in death by her husband and parents, 6 siblings: Dorothy Schabo, Florence Kaskavage, Hilda Hansen, Velda Miller, Evelyn Hansen, and Vernon “Bobby” Nowak.
The funeral liturgy for June will be held at Noon, on Friday, February 12, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 11 am until the time of the Mass. A memorial fund will be established.
June’s family would like to make a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Parkside Assisted Living, Neenah, especially Candy. A special thank you to Tammy Fox with AsceraCare Hospice, and June’s primary doctor Janine Buffo, for their care and compassion.
