Julie Mae Treichel

January 14, 1952 — July 2, 2018

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” -2 Timothy 4:7

Julie (Lemke) Treichel was called to her heavenly home on July 2, 2018 at the age of 66. She lived with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for the last 35 years of her life. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She was born January 14, 1952 to Alvin & Eunice (Wuerger) Lemke. She was married to the love of her life, Don Treichel, on September 23, 1972.

Julie was a devout Christian who was baptized on February 3, 1952 then later Confirmed on April 3, 1966. She was a member for many years at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kaukauna, WI. Over the last several years she was an active member at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Appleton, WI.

Julie truly loved to talk and be around people. This showed in her job at Unison Credit Union where she was a collections officer. Because of her amazing co-workers, Julie enjoyed going to work ever single day for 38 years. Everyone at the Credit Union helped make Julie successful at her job by picking her up and taking her home when needed, as well as, taking care of all her needs during the day.

Julie was the consummate hostess and found great joy in entertaining friends and loved ones at her home. One of her greatest joys was to play cards, whether with card club or a casual game with friends. She also hosted many family holiday gatherings, which everyone enjoyed. In her free time, Julie loved to take drives “up north” with her husband Don. The true highlight of her life was her grandkids. Whether it be watching them play sports, teaching them a new card game or just catching up with them on what is going on in their lives. The grandkids always loved getting a ride on Grandma’s scooter.

She is survived by her husband Don Treichel and her two children Joseph (Lindsay) Treichel and Kristina (Adam) Thomas; 4 siblings: Fay (Bob) Boerschinger, Lois Leonard, John (Julie) Lemke, Paul Lemke; 4 grandkids: Brecken and Stella Thomas, Summitt and Hudson Treichel; 2 sibling-in-laws: David (Sandy) Treichel; 1 great aunt: Elaine Bohrtz; 13 nieces and nephews: Tracy Boerschinger, Jonathan (Jacqueline) Leonard, Cecilia and Victoria Lemke, Justin and Jenna Lemke, Brett (Kellie) Treichel, Bethany (Sean) McCullough, Blake (Clare) Treichel. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Eunice Lemke; in-laws: Evelyn and Wilbert Treichel, Marlin Hennig; brothers-in-law: Joe Leonard and Darrel Treichel; sister-in-law: Rose Lemke; niece: Amy Boerschinger, granddaughter: Faith Thomas.

Julie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the exceptional hospice staff at Cherry Meadows and her physician Dr. Steven Hagen. Also to all the friends, family and pastors that visited Julie over the last several months. It truly meant the world to her.
