Julia A. Brouwers

February 3, 1917 — May 29, 2010

Julia Van Lankveldt Brouwers was born on February 3, 1917 in Little Chute, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Van Gervin) Van Lankveldt. Julia was a resident of Kimberly for most of her adult life and was an active member of Holy Name Catholic Church. Her first love was being with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling, baking, sewing and crafts. She was an avid Packer fan – in good times and in bad. She enjoyed her time playing sheepshead and nickel with her Kimberly Clark friends and her high school classmates and friends. Julia was a member of the Ladies of Holy Name, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Ladies Mission Group, Kimberly Golden Agers and Senior Quest.

She is survived by her two daughters: Sandy (Hank) Kelderman of Menasha and Anne (Mark) Smith of Fitchburg; four grandchildren: Jenny (Lyle) Elske of Sun Prairie; Jason (Kelly) Kelderman of Kaukauna; Andy Smith of Fitchburg; and Nora Smith of Milwaukee; and four great-grandchildren: Julia and Meredith Elske of Sun Prairie and Maverik and Paxton Kelderman of Kaukauna. She is further survived by her sister-in-law: Alice Van Lankveldt, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Julia had a special place in her heart for her niece Mary Olson and her husband Kent who visited often. She enjoyed spending time with her many neighbors and friends, and thought the world of Tom and Sandy Derks. She was preceded in death by her husband: Emil; sisters Hattie (Arn) Van Vonderen, Gen (Ted) De Groot, and Cornelia Wydeven; brothers: John (Hattie) VanLankveldt, Theodore (Etta) VanLankveldt, Marty VanLankveldt, and Henry Van Lankveldt.

The funeral liturgy for Julia will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at HOLY SPIRIT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly, with Fr. David Beaudry officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday afternoon from 3:00 PM until the time of the service.

The family would like to say a special thank you to everyone at St. Paul Elder Services, especially the staff at Appletree Court for the wonderful care and support they provided Julia during the last years of her life. We will never forget your kindness.
