Our Mother became an angel on Sunday, May 29, 2011. Judy was born in Appleton to the late Viola Schmidt on June 5, 1939. She married the late Richard “Dick” W. Kositzke on November 22, 1958. She married Richard (Rich) Saunders on October 26, 1996. Judy taught us all how to love, live and enjoy life. Those who knew her best and loved her knew her special joys.

Her legacy includes her best friend and husband of 15 years, Richard Saunders; three daughters: Terry (Kurt Foth) Staska, Carrie (Jeff) Fieck, and Debbie (Dennis) West, all of Appleton; Richard's daughter, Debbie (Robert) Hintz of Appleton, and son, Jeffrey (Beth) Saunders of Menomonie Falls; sister-in-law: Suzanne Nuernberger of Appleton; and Viv Huisman of Appleton; and “sister,” Pat Walbrun of Neenah. She also had 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Appleton Highland Memorial Park, 3300 N. Richmond St., Appleton, with Chaplain Jordon Kuczwara officiating. Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A private family entombment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established for the benefit of the Martha Siekman Cancer Center at Appleton Medical Center and ThedaCare Hospice at Cherry Meadows.

A heartfelt and special thank you to Dr. Swanson and his staff at A.M.C., especially Mary Jo, and to Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara for giving Mom and “Pa” comfort, peace and laughter through Mom's journey and to the entire hospice organization, especially Mary, for making it possible for Mom to live fully to her last moment with us.
