Age 65, died on Thursday, May 31, 2001 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, following complications related to lung cancer. Judith was born on January 13, 1936 in Albany, New York, daughter of the late Henry and Sadie (Miner) Lohre. She married David Peter Phibbs on May 14, 1962, and they have enjoyed 39 years of marriage. Judith was employed as an accountant with several different credit unions. She also worked as a Sunday School Teacher with St. Steven’s Lutheran, East Schodack, New York. For many years Judith was a graphologist, and would love to analyze the handwriting of friends and family. Most recently, she worked with other patients and staff in the cancer ward at St. Elizabeth. Judith was an artist who loved to work with watercolors. She also loved writing, especially children’s stories. Judith was an avid naturalist. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and mountain climbing. Judith was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother and aunt. Everybody was her “favorite,” and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Judith is survived by her husband David; her son, Major Jonathan D. Phibbs, Madison; two daughters, Deidre E. (Wayne) Kozlowski, Appleton; Laura Page (Kenneth) Sasiadek, Nassau, New York; her sister, Ellen (Joseph) Mirabile, Slingerlands, New York; five grandchildren, Charlotte and Jason Radliff; Sarah Kozlowski; Erik and Chad Sasiadek; seven nephews, Marcus, Philip and James Lohre; Timothy, Joseph, Charles and Michael Mirabile; and also Anette Phibbs. Judith was further survived by many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, David Lohre, and grandson, David Sasiadek. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, June 4, 2001, at EMMANUEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 740 East College Avenue, with Rev. Lynn Kollath officiating. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Castleton, New York. Friends will be received at the church on Monday, June 4 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A funeral service will also be held in East Schodack, New York. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
