Age 85, of Waupaca and Port Charlotte, Fla., died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Columbia Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla.A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior, Appleton. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. A reception will follow immediately after the memorial service. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of the Wisconsin Lakes Association.

David was born on Sept. 9, 1916, in Junction City, a son of Sylvester and Lorinda (Akey Grasshorn) Sebora.He graduated from Emerson High School in 1934, from Ripon College, Ripon, in 1938, and from the University of Wisconsin Law School, Madison, in 1940. From 1940 to 1955, David held a private law practice in the communities of Brillion and Chilton, which focused primarily on personal injury, probate and real estate. In 1946 he was elected to a part time position as Calumet County’s district attorney, a position he held until 1955. In 1955 he was elected to the position of Calumet County judge, a post he held for 24 years, presiding over civil, criminal and juvenile matters. He retired in 1980.Upon retirement, he was appointed by the state of Wisconsin to the position of Wisconsin reserve judge, presiding as acting judge in more than 26 counties throughout Wisconsin. He was recognized by the Wisconsin Supreme Court for his accomplishments upon his final retirement in 1996. David’s diversified talents and endeavors continued to be exercised throughout his retirement years. He served as a legal columnist for Hoard’s Dairyman, Fort Atkinson, a monthly farmer’s publication. In 1993 he authored a book entitled Informal Probate in Wisconsin. He was also an accomplished artist, who expanded his talents during his retirement years. An avid swimmer and boat enthusiast, David enjoyed the wonders of the Chain O’Lakes, Waupaca, for more than 70 years.

His professional and civic affiliations included: member of the State Bar of Wisconsin; past president of the Wisconsin Juvenile Court Judges; past president of the Chamber of Commerce, Chilton; past board member of the Kettle Morraine Boy Scout Council; past chairman of the Calumet County Salvation Army; member of the Fraternal Order of the Elks; and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He married Alice Bridgeman in May of 1946, the marriage ending in divorce. He married Maryann Koller May 26, 1978. She survives. He is also survived by five children, Nora Sebora, Stevens Point, David Sebora (Jennifer McGuire), Neenah, Sheila (James) Lutiger, Hudson, Peg (Ron) San Felippo, Milwaukee, and Marc (Jenni) Sebora, Lester Prairie, Minn.; four grandchildren, Sarah Lutiger, Catie Lutiger, Caleb Sebora and Callie Sebora; nine step-children; and 13 step-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lester Sebora and Kenneth Sebora, and two sisters, Verna Anderson and Elayne Jantz.
