Joyce Peggy Murphy

Joyce Peggy Murphy was born on November 24, 1924 in Ealing, England and passed away peacefully on May 21, 2018. She graduated from school at the age of 16 and then joined the army. Joyce arrived in America on the famous Queen Mary in 1945. She married the love of her life, David J. Murphy is 1962, who survived her in death. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Nelson Wood, as well as her siblings, Olive, Sydney, Trevor, Hilda and John. She is survived by her loving family, Anthony (Sally) Steffen; their children Kristin (Ben) Lewicki; grandchildren Lauren and Kathryn; and Erik (Jennifer) Steffen and their children Abigail and Anthony; her daughter Lorna (Robert) Klemp, their children Noelle (Brian) Timm, and their children Tobias, Sophia and Stella; and Todd Klemp and his daughter Thea; daughter Debra LeFleur, and daughter Lisa (Brian) Murphy.

Joyce was both a stay at home mom and a CNA. She was a voracious reader who enjoyed reading mystery novels, in particular, Agatha Christie. Joyce enjoyed Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, crosswords, sewing and needlepoint. She had a wonderful, sarcastic sense of humor. She said it like it was but maintained a loving and open mind with every person she met. Joyce was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a survivor in so many ways. She will always be remembered for her strength in the face of adversity.

Services will be at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street, Appleton, WI 54911, on Friday, May 25th, 2018. Visitation is from 4:00pm to 5:30pm with a 5:30pm service.
