“Joy”

Joy Phyllis Frick, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2010. She was born December 18, 1927 in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Arthur and Daisy Kennedy. Joy was an only child and when she was about 8 years old, her family moved to a small town south of Ashland. She went to school in a small, one room schoolhouse. She remembers walking 1 ½ miles (uphill both ways) to the bus stop. Joy graduated from Drummond High School and went on to college at Stout, where she studied home economics. She worked for the Post Crescent in advertising and then as a receptionist for Kurt & Root. Joy married the love of her life, Richard Frick, in 1947 and they were married for 54 years. Joy and Richard loved to travel and camp along the way. They had their own RV sales business, which Joy mainly ran, while Richard worked as a mechanical engineer for Kimberly Clark. For fun they loved to square dance. They would host barn dances on weekends with entertainment and plenty of dancing.

Joy will be sadly missed by her daughter, Cheryl Seeley of Austin, Texas; grandchildren: Tami (David) Bradford, Shelly Seeley, Lisa Smith, T.J. (Christina) Seeley; great-grandchildren: Jessica Dettman, Steven Dettman, Eric Arnold and Andraya Genskow.

A Memorial Service for Joy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri-County Chapel. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Joy's name.
