Joyce H. Knuth

March 30, 1936 — November 4, 2014

Joyce Knuth, age 78 of Winchester, was called home to the waiting arms of her Lord early on the morning of November 4, 2014 at Cherry Meadows Hospice. Joyce was born in Milwaukee on March 30, 1936, daughter of the late William and Hilma (Geisler) Bass. She was a 1954 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran High School, and on November 8, 1958 married Donald Knuth in West Allis. Over the years, Joyce held a variety of secretarial positions, but most of all loved her years as the church secretary at Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton. In her free time, she loved quilting and camping. Joyce also treasured her role as wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by her husband: Donald Knuth of Winchester; five loving children: Donna (Tom) Kuenn of Montello; Rob (Lynne) Knuth of Reedsville; Joanne (Brent) Nemmers of Allen, Texas; Carol (Sean) Schuff of Neenah; and James Knuth and Darrell Thomas of New London. There are also ten special grandchildren: Miranda and Morganne Sendek; Amelia, Andrew, Rebecca, Gretchen, and Nathaniel Nemmers; and Emma, Abbey, and Noah Schuff. Joyce also leaves behind a sister-in-law: Jean Wentz of North Prairie, as well as her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws: Albert and Laura (Lowenhagen) Knuth; and her siblings: Ruth (Herb) Wilks, Bernice Bass, Joseph Bass, and Joan (Robert) Enstrom.

The Christian Funeral for Joyce will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at MOUNT OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 E. Florida Avenue in Appleton, with Rev. Joel Zank officiating. Interment will follow in Appleton's Highland Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to gather directly at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Joyce's family would like to thank Dr. Phillips and the nurses at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology for the care and compassion they showed to Joyce during her eight years of treatment. Special thanks also to her Theda Care Hospice Team, especially Mary and Jeannie, as well as the entire staff at Cherry Meadows. You have been angels to our family and we will never forget your kindness.

A memorial fund for Joyce has been established to benefit either Mount Olive's Grace 100 Fund (for the church anniversary) or for a Scholarship for Students studying for the ministry.
