Josephine F. Van Heeswyk

July 23, 1907 — July 3, 2005

Age 97, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005 at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute. Josie was born in North Dakota on July 23, 1907, daughter of the late John and Dinah (Goemans) Vander Velden. She was married for many years to Peter Van Heeswyk who preceded her in death. Through the years she held various part-time jobs in the area, and was a longtime and faithful member of Holy Name (Holy Spirit) Parish. She was a former member of the Ladies of Holy Name, the Bible Study Group, and the Kimberly Golden Agers.

She is survived by a son: Ronald Sturn of Buda, Texas, and his children Harold, Carolyn Jo, and Matthew; a step-daughter: Marian (Ray) Hooyman of Appleton and their children Jeff, Nancy, and Donna; a step-son: Cyril (Norma) Van Heeswyk of Menasha; a son-in-law: Hank Peerenboom of Elcho, Wisconsin and his three sons Lee, Pete, and Pat. Other survivors include two sisters: Estelle Jansen of Combined Locks and Bernice (John) Welhouse of Menasha; two special nieces and caregivers: Linda (Rich) Doering and Germaine Hietpas, both of Little Chute, as well as numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Harold Sturn, her second husband Peter Van Heeswyk, a daughter Marlene Peerenboom, two step-daughters: Geraldine Spreeman and Armella Hietpas; a step-son: Gerard Van Heeswyk; three sisters: Harriet Van Heeswyk, Marie Lamers, and Margaret Opsteen; and brothers George and Donald Vander Velden.

The funeral liturgy for Josie will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, 600 East Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends directly at the church on Thursday from 10 AM until the hour of the service.

Josie’s family would like to thank all of the wonderful people at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute, especially Sue. We will always remember your kindness and compassion during her stay with you. Thank you all so very much.
