Age 95, of Little Chute, formerly of 600 West Glendale Ave., Appleton, passed away peacefully September 8, 2005, at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute.
Josephine was born June 23, 1910, in Bear Creek, Wis., the daughter of the late Harry and Ida (Sperberg) Cotter. She was united in marriage to Ernest Henke on August 3, 1957. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1997.
Josephine worked for many years at the former Appleton Wire Works, and later worked as a cook at Gordy’s Bar for many years for their Friday fish fry. She enjoyed playing sheepshead, working crossword puzzles, bowling, playing bingo, going to cottages and fishing. Josephine was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a life member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet & Clyde Culbertson, Clintonville, and Carol & David Evans, Neenah; her son-in-law, Raymond “Hap” Mignon, Little Chute; her nine grandchildren, Amy & Matt Thomas, Craig Culbertson, Lynn Culbertson, Scott & Jen Evans, Dawn & Scott Schnabl, Greg & LaVerne Mignon, Gary & Lois Mignon, Pam Ruedinger, and JoEllen & Charles Janssen; there are eleven great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, her daughter, Elaine “Sweets” Mignon, five sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services for Josephine will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 209 South Allen Street, Appleton, with Revs. Kurt and Mary Beth Kovanen officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of services directly at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in her name.

We would like to express our special thanks to Dr. Jack Meyer and the staff at Parkside Care Center for the care they have given to Josephine these past years.
