Age 97, went to join his family members in heaven on Thursday afternoon, May 15, 2003. His relatives preceding him in death include his wife, Adrianna, in 1997; his daughter, Bonnie, in 1968; his son, Gary in 2002 and a grandson, Joey, in 2001. Joe was born January 14, 1906, in Hollandtown, to the late John and Anna (Haen) Van De Loo. Joe and Adrianna were married on June 20, 1933, in Kaukauna. He resided the last seven years at the home of his late son, Gary and Donna, Kaukauna.

Joe lived his entire life in the Kaukauna area, working as a farm hand until he started Van De Loo Livestock Sales, at the age of 28 and bought the present farm in 1941. He retired in 1971, when his son Gary took over the business, naming it Gary Van De Loo Livestock Sales, Inc. Joe continued to ride along to buy and sell cattle and greet customers. In 2002, grandsons Gary, Jr. and Rick took over the business after their father's untimely death. Joe was very active as a bank director at F & M Bank of Kaukauna for 30 years, from 1957 to 1987. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where he worshipped until God called for him. Joe was a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus, he enjoyed playing cards with his brothers and sisters, family members and friends and had a great love of chocolates. He was active in the 4-H and church activities as his children were growing up. Joe will always be remembered as a caring husband, father and grandfather, great grandfather and a good friend to all who knew him. He will be known as having compassion and candor, inspiring us to love life, to persevere through its challenges, and to share your gifts with others.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the many friends who visited, especially Bob Peterson and they would also like to thank his physicians, Dr. Stephen Dernlan, Dr. Kristine Juntunen; VNA nurses, Cathy Randerson and Shelly Tauber, and the staff at Appleton Medical Center and Cherry Meadows for their loving care and support

Life will serve up staggering challenges as you go through it. You will find comfort and distress in the most unlikely places. In the eyes of a loved one, in the unexpected death of a good friend, you will find faith. The sheer beauty of the world around you and the laughter of a really good joke will sustain you. What you most need in life will be given to you. In the face of unimaginable anguish there will be joy. I tell you this because I know it to be so. Take heart in that – and have faith.
