Joseph T. De Wildt

September 15, 1916 — December 10, 2001

Age 85, passed away Monday, December 10, 2001 at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute. Joe was born in Kimberly on September 15, 1916, son of the late John and Anne (Wydeven) DeWildt. Joe married the former Virginia Cavert, and she preceded him in death on February 2, 1970. He was a nearly a lifetime employee of Kimberly Clark Corporation, and retired in 1970. During World War II, he served as a proud member of the United States Army, and was stationed in Hawaii for most of his time. He was currently a member of the William Verhagen Post #60 of the American Legion. In his earlier years when his health permitted, Joe enjoyed playing bingo and cards. Many of his friends knew him as “Bingo Joe”.

He is survived by his daughter: Jenny Nelson of Forest Junction and her children Jesse, Tina, and Carl Nelson; two sisters: Cecilia Van Asten of Kaukauna and Rita (Joe) Vander Weyst of Little Chute; a brother: Clarence (Margaret) DeWildt of Poway, California; dear friends: Bud and Eileen Van Toll, and by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia in 1970, brothers Harry DeWildt, Sylvester (Nellie) DeWildt, Frank (Rose) DeWildt; by sisters Marie (Constance) Van Dinter, Martha (Frank) Vanden Heuvel, Regina (Howard) Gmeiner, Harriet (Art) Kons, and Agnes (Ervin) Steinhauer; and a brother-in-law: Arnold Van Asten.

The funeral liturgy for Joe will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, December 13, 2001 at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park with military honors provided by Post #60 of the American Legion. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10 AM until the hour of the liturgy.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the entire staff at Parkside Care Center for the care and concern shown to Joe during his stay. Parkside really became his home, and you made him confortable. Thank you so very much.
