Joseph "Joe" Hermsen

March 12, 1919 — May 10, 2016

Joseph “Joe” Hermsen, 97, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 surrounded by his family at Kimberly Assisted Living. Joe was born on March 12, 1919 to George and Rose (Coenen) Hermsen in Little Chute. On October 1, 1942 he was united in marriage to Lillian Seegers. Joe worked for Kimberly Clark in the Kimberly Mill until his retirement and also farmed for many years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping, wintering in Florida and spending summers at Shawano Lake. Joe was a Brewer fan and a longtime member of Holy Spirit Parish.

Joe is survived by his children: Ronald (Joan) Hermsen, Lakewood; Karen (George) Broeren, Kaukauna; Kathy (Steve) Hermes, Kimberly; Darlene (Dennis) Van Dyke, Darboy; Randolph (Diane) Hermsen, Kaukauna; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren, his siblings; Eleanor Behling, Grace (Ralph) Schmidt, Mildred (Lawrence) Wippich, Lloyd (Marlene) Hermsen, his sister-in-law, Rose Seegers, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lillian, his great granddaughter, Angelica Seichter, siblings; Clara (Emmet) Newhouse, Lorraine (Leo) Hooyman, Raymond, Ceciel and Marion Hermsen and Helen (Joseph) VanderVoort, and a brother-in-law Ed Behling.

The funeral liturgy for Joe will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 12:00 PM at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, 600 E. Kimberly Ave., with Fr Bob Kollath officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Memorial Park. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. The family would like to thank the staff at Kimberly Assisted Living, Affinity Hospice and Nancy Wilson for the special care and compassion given to Joseph. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Joe's name.
