Age 83, died Friday, December 6, 2002, at Alterra Wynwood of Appleton. Joseph was born on October 31, 1919, in West Bend, Wisconsin, to the late Joseph and Henrietta (Vette) Schultz. He married Maria Van Himbeeck on October 24, 1946, in Antwerp, Belgium. Joseph was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He proudly served his country as a three-year veteran of the United States Army, participating in the invasion of Normandy at Utah Beach on D-Day and later serving during the Battle of the Bulge. Joseph was a longtime Plymouth, Wisconsin resident, moving to Appleton in 2001. He was the National Sales Manager for Wilderness Log Homes of Plymouth and was also a mink rancher for many years. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Maria; his children, Barbara (Toby) Tyler, Appleton; Diane (James II) Charlton, Brookfield; Larry Schultz, Berlin; and Cindy (Mike) Felsher, Hartland; his grandchildren, Liza and Jackie Tyler; Briana, and Kailey Charlton; Adam (Christina) Schultz and Elizabeth Schultz; and Geoffrey, Peter and Jenna Felsher. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Millie Rosacker, Gertrude Gitter, Florence Bischel and Marge Roddy. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 9, 2002 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton. Friends may call directly at the funeral home on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Alterra Wynwood for their loving care.
