Age 46, passed away at his home on December 12, 2002 surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with cancer. John was born on July 10, 1956 to Robert E. and Jean (Luebke) Golden, in Appleton. John married Denice Gutschow on May 19, 1979, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was an avid Packer fan and racing enthusiast. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of Appleton West Terror sports. John loved to hunt, fish and play cards. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, during the Viet Nam Conflict. John will be sadly missed by his wife, Denice, his children, Heather Golden and Sean Golden, his father, Robert E. Golden and his friend Edith Hopkins, three brothers Stephen (Maxine) Golden, James (Ina) Golden, Philip (Amy) Golden, mother-in-law, Dolores Gutschow, sister-in-law, Kay (Duke) Reim, and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his mother, Jean C. Golden. The Funeral Liturgy for John will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, December 16, 2002, at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 West Lawrence Street, with Father John Holly officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home from 4-8 pm, Sunday, December 15, 2002 and at the church on Monday, from 9:30 am, until the time of the mass. There will be a VFW visitation, Sunday at 7:00 pm and a Parish Prayer and Scripture Service at 7:30 pm, Sunday. A memorial fund is being established.
