John F. VanBelkom

John F. Van Belkom, age 84, of Kimberly, died in the presence of his loved ones on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Brewster Village in Appleton. John was born in Tilburg, The Netherlands, on September 14, 1924. He married Annie de Leeuw on April 18, 1950. John and his family moved to the Fox Valley in 1959. He retired from Miller Electric in 1981 after 23 years, as a Senior Tester. He enjoyed singing and was in several choirs, including a lifetime member of the MacDowell Male Chorus. John did a lot of remodeling projects and was skilled in woodworking. John and Annie enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They also liked to travel internationally and getting together with fellow Hollanders.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 58 years: Annie Van Belkom, Kimberly; daughters: Marianne (Wayne) Verboomen, Appleton, Marie (Dan) Martin, Townsend; a son: Tony (Sue) Van Belkom, Franklin, TN; ten grandchildren: Jennifer, Sarah, Lisa, Christopher, Joel, Amanda, Sandy, Amy, Kristin, Anna; and great-grandchildren; sisters: Toni (Adolf) Hendriks, Appleton, and Annie de Kort, The Netherlands.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 East Lourdes Drive, Appleton. Father Donald Zuleger will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street and again on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. A memorial fund in John's name has been established.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Brewster Village nursing staff for their excellent care and thoughtfulness.
