John E. Legan

June 28, 1934 — June 7, 2010

John Legan, age 75, went home to be with his LORD on June 7, 2010. John was born in Milwaukee on June 28, 1934, son of the late Earl and Gladys (Homme) Legan. During the Korean Conflict, he served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. For many years, he worked in the Milwaukee/Waukesha and Elkhart Lake areas as a real estate agent. On June 9, 1985, he married Deanna LaDuke, and welcomed her and her four children into his life. John loved music, and could always be coaxed into singing, or playing the piano, guitar, or banjo. He was also an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed tending his gardens. Daily reading and study of the Bible was a staple of his life. Learning more about the truths of God's Word was always his goal. Make no mistake, John was a preacher first and a real estate agent second.

John is survived by his beloved wife: Deanna Legan of Kaukauna, and will also be lovingly missed by his children: Scott (Juli Binsfeld) Legan of Wauwatosa; Guy (Robyn) Legan of Delavan; Tracy (Kevin) Delimat of Watertown; Aaron Legan of Watertown; Doug (Amy) Legan of Eagle; Melissa Binsfeld of Cape Coral, Florida; Beth (Joe) Jasiak of Kaukauna; and E. Michael (Julie) Binsfeld of Kaukauna. There are also twenty-two grandchildren; a brother: Ken Legan of Shabbona, Illinois; a brother-in-law: Steve (Sandi) LaDuke of Seymour; a sister-in-law: Marcie (Norb) Karner of Kimberly; as well as many other family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Anita (Lenny) Liebl.

A memorial service for John will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 14, 2010 at THE VINE CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP, 3395 W. College Avenue in Appleton, with Pastor Steve Shepard officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday morning from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Full military honors will follow the worship service. A memorial fund in John's name has been established.

At the end of his journey, John was surely welcomed home with “…Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21.

John's mission in life was to serve Jesus and bring others to know Him in truth through the Word of God.
