To the entire Legan family, We are so sorry to hear about your great loss, undoubtedly, heaven’s great gain. John is home with his loving Savior. Most importantly in my life, I am forever grateful for my first meeting with John & Dea as they shared their great love for Jesus and patiently answered all my questions regarding the Bible. Both Stan & I were baptized and married by John. John’s light was always shinning bright through his walk with the Lord. Many seeds have been planted-thank you! Respectfully, Stan & Cindy Albiniak

I've just been reading some the the things people have been saying about John. It's obvious that he has touched many lives in a special manner. Some time ago I found a card with a verse on it. I don't know why but I saved it. Now it seems to describe John. Some People Are Very Special Some people have a wonderful way of putting others at ease. They say and do little things that will comfort and will please. They have a special kind of warmth; they're quick to understand. And whenever there is trouble, they lend a helping hand. This world of ours is a better place and happier by far, because there are some special people as wonderful as you are! DeeDee, Scott, Julie and all of Johns family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Pam & Ernie Demmon

Corinthians 4:16-18 16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. My deepest sympathies on the loss of your father, Tracy.

Grandpa John was an amazing man. The best ever. I will miss him more than anything, but am so thankful for all the time we were able to spend together throughout my life and for the great relationship we had. From our trips to Canada, our hunting excursions, to playing musical chairs when he used to babysit us as kids. All those times I will cherish for the rest of my life. Knowing that Grandpa is at peace looking down on us all gives me comfort in this rough time. All of us grandkids are so fortunate to have had such an amazing Grandpa! You were truly one of a kind. Looking forward to seeing you again someday! Love Josh-o

About my dad, I learned at a young age it was always important to make church a priority and not for attendance but spending time in the word and studying regularly. Dad was always a preacher unto the very end. Talking with doctors and nurses and everyone who visited him about Jesus every chance he got. During his last day, as a nurse was massaging his neck muscles because he could not turn his head, they were face to face and dad asked her if she new Jesus, the nurse said, yes I do John. Then he asked her if she new him as her sovereign savior and the nurse said yes John and with tears in her eyes said, and when you see him will you tell him that I love him. Dad said yes I will. I will always remember my dad as a gentle, loving, caring, man of God. Scott

John witnessed to my Dad 30 years ago. Lead Bible studies in our home. Personally took me to my first Sunday school class. Like many others I was baptized and married by him. Very important person in my life with significant impact while doing the Lord’s work. Deepest heartfelt sympathy to all of the family members. Many of you also had positive impact in my life and I hold in high regard. John is now where we all long to be someday.
Juli Legan left a message on June 9, 2010:
Oh how we'll miss our wonderful father and grandpa. Almost 30 years ago, John taught me to seek answers to all my questions in the Holy Scriptures. On the day Scott proposed, John told me to call him "Dad", and he's been that to me ever since. He touched so many lives and loved God so very much. In his last days, his prayer continued to be that his family and loved ones would strive to serve Jesus with all their hearts, souls and minds. What a wonderful patriarch we've lost.

How many tears can one cry? Yet my dearest stepdad is in heaven, at peace, no more pain or suffering. His work is done and he has been called home. So, forgive me for being selfish, but I longed to be with him one more time. I didn't get that chance, but as I walked in the rain that day, I began to sing "his" song, "It's beginning to rai-ai-ain in the voice of my Savior. Whosoever will, come drink of this water.I promise to pour my Spirit out on my sons and my daughters..." Oh, what precious heavenly water. I cry, yet rejoice to know you are with A. Anita & your beloved parents now. I'm clinging to the same hope of Glory! I will see you again, inside the eastern gate, o.k.? I love you, John, and thank you for the many blessings of having you in my life. Until we meet again, I will take good care of Mom for you. xxoo
