Jill R. Watters

February 12, 1961 — January 4, 2019

Jill Watters, age 57, of Appleton/Menasha, passed away peacefully after a short yet impactful stay at the Bridges of Appleton on Friday January 4, 2019 at 3:17 PM. After her long battle with cancer, lupus and many other illnesses, Jill the Warrior, was surrounded by many loved ones until the end.

Jill, the daughter of Dale and Georgia (Voelz) was born on February 12, 1961, in Appleton. She graduated from Appleton West High School in 1979. Jill spent her most joyous moments spending time with her children and grandchildren, volunteering and working at Huntley Elementary school, enjoying everything outdoors, and creating just about anything. Jill was a ray of sunshine and always made a deep impact on everyone she encountered. Even if she was “Going through Hell” herself, she always ensured others’ spirits were lifted, with calming words or quirky laughter.

Jill is survived by her three children: Danielle Watters, Meaghan Castell; and Matthew Wimberger; three grandchildren: Clayton, Jaykob, and Graysen; two brothers: Roger (Kathy) Watters and Ron (Jen) Watters; two sisters: Jody (Robert “Bud’) Koett and Janet Watters; and one brother-in-law: Daniel Callaway. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, many other relatives, along with countless people across the country, who were truly more than friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Dale Watters; mother Georgia Callaway; and sister Jeanine (Watters) Callaway.

The memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday January 21, 2019 at Wichmann Funeral Home, located at 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton. Friends and Family may visit at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until the time of service. Burial will take place on a later date at Riverside Cemetery.

A Special Thank You – to anyone who has ever taken care of Jill Watters; doctors, nurses and staff. You all helped add some light to what could have been a very gloomy experience.

“The gracefulness of a butterfly, how gentle and fragile they seem. Gently fluttering, on a calm summer’s day, floating like, a dream. But sadly, there time is over, hardly before it’s begun. So enjoy your special moments, like a butterfly, in the sun.” – John Read
