My heart is filled with gratitude as we prepare to celebrate Mom's life here in Appleton and soon at Redeemer/St Johns, her home church in Bay Ridge. The memories overflow as I recall growing up 1st generation of Norwegian immigrants. Learning Norwegian as I heard Mom and Dad speaking their native language so that I could not understand. Watching Mom make Christmas cookies- krumkake and fattigmand- and my favorite foods- norwegian pankake and lapskaus. And now making these wonderful treats for my children and grandchildren. Above all my memory focuses on Mom's unconditional love. She lived it-an integral part of her fabric. Lill used to laugh and say that Mom referred to me as gylden gutt,(albeit that mantle was passed to Hays later in her life). The truth is all children, all people were golden. All were to be cherished, all golden, all forgiven, all deserving of a smile. What a gift she gave us. Hays said it well. Tusen Takk Mom Dennis

There are so many memories I will always treasure of Jenny, but I'm mostly grateful for the time I got to spend with her when I lived around the corner on Shore Road in Bay Ridge. We took so many Sunday trips to the Bridgeview Diner ("It's really a very nice restaurant, why do they call it a diner?"), and to Key Foods, always bumping into friends of Jenny's on the street. And she would make me her patented homemade chicken soup with "Brockohlee" (heavy Norwegian accent on that word), and bread with butter, and we would watch Jeopardy and Judge Judy. And she would always laugh and tell me stories about growing up in Norway. One time she was telling me about advice her mother gave to her when she was a little girl, there were 3 bits of advice, but the one I will always remember is she said "Don't eat rotten food!" Jenny, you will be missed so much! Love, Hays
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.
