Jeffrey M. "Merv" Shaffer

Jeffrey Shaffer, age 48, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. He was born on April 26, 1967 in Appleton, to Mervin and Margaret (Okkonen) Shaffer. Jeff was very active in athletics, and graduated from Appleton East High School in 1985. He received a Bachelor degree in Industrial Technology in 1992 from UW-Stout. Jeff was employed in Robotic Engineering during his career. Jeff loved spending time with his children, and attending their various activities. One of his passions was coaching. He had great patience with his sons and the children in Little League and youth wrestling. He was a Wisconsin sports fan. Jeff enjoyed cooking and the family fish boil, spending time on the golf course, or at the lake fishing. Jeff looked forward to the holidays, especially Christmas, and creating his children's costumes for Halloween. Most of all, Jeff loved being with family and friends.

Jeff is survived by his precious children Mason, Gabriel, Breckyn, and Sydnie; parents Mervin and Margaret Shaffer; brothers Timothy (Jane), Jay (Linda) and Garret Shaffer; nieces and nephews Maggie (Neal) Layng, Quinn Shaffer and Anna Shaffer; Erica Shaffer and Jack Shaffer. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends, and the mother of his children Tina Shaffer.

The memorial service for Jeffrey will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 18, 2015 at MEMORIAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 803 East College Avenue in Appleton. Rev. Michael Goodwin will be officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 1:00 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
