May 22, 1925 — October 8, 2017

Jeanne L. Gabert, age 92, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2017. Jeanne was born May 22, 1925 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to the late Carleton and Evelyn (Arft) Thomas. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1943. She then went on to study English, History, and Education and graduated from Oshkosh Teachers College in 1947. Jeanne would read three newspapers a day as well as her morning and evening book. She enjoyed her times at Little Harbor/Door County. She enjoyed her friends, Birthday Club, and Book Club. Jeanne loved the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks who came to her feeders. She loved the pets she cared for over the years, especially her cats, Kirsche and Volkig, who were her close companions these last years.
She is survived by: daughter, Jane Anne (Robert) Leveille of Appleton; two sons, Tom (Karen Gumness) Gabert of Minocqua, and Bill (Louise) Gabert of Oshkosh; six grandchildren, Matt, Mike (Victoria), and Jon Leveille, Brenna, Keegan, and Rose Gabert; and five great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Timothy, Brooke, Madeleine, and Theo; sister-in-law Margaret (Ron) Troyan and brother-in-law Michael (Orlaine) Gabert.
