PETERSON, JEAN (BLOCK)

Jean Peterson, age 76, died on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at Cherry Meadows Hospice, Appleton, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on July 19, 1931, in Fond du Lac, to the late Arthur C. and Leona (Hein) Block. Jean married Peter “Jim” Peterson on December 21, 1957, in Fond du Lac. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Jean enjoyed gardening and especially the time spent with her family. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Jim; her daughters, Sonja Edgerton and her sons, Evan and Alex, Appleton; Gretchen (Steve) Klein, and their children, A.J., Davis, Gracie and Jake, Appleton; and Amy (Jesse) Olson, and their daughter, Paige, Madison, Wisconsin. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Lucy Block, several nieces and her special friends, Yvonne Fink of Fond du Lac, Marilyn Ossian of Appleton and Rebecca Mannikko, Appleton. She was preceded in death by her sister, Wilhelmina Block; her brothers, Dick, Chuck and John; and her beloved dog Tiffany. Funeral services will be at NOON on Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at the Mach Funeral Home, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton, on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the Mach Funeral Home in Fond du Lac. Interment will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac. The family would like to thank the staff at Appleton Medical Center, Rennes Health Care Center, The Martha Siekman Cancer Center and Cherry Meadows Hospice for their loving care. A memorial has been established in her name to benefit the American Cancer Society—Pancreatic Cancer Research.
