Jean M. Wenninger

September 15, 1936 — September 15, 2013

Dear wife of 54 years to Ron, loving mom and grandma passed away at home on Sunday, September 15, 2013 from cancer. She was born September 15, 1936, the daughter of the late James and Martha (Totzke) Thomas. She originally worked as the secretary to the vice president of Fox River Paper Corporation, but later stayed home to raise her children. She often did volunteer work for the Kaukauna School System.
Jean loved to celebrate the holidays, especially Christmas. The Christmas tree was always decorated with ornaments which she hand crafted. People who wanted a special gift wrapped would begin arriving well before Christmas. This became a tradition in itself as many returned over a period of years. Home-made candy and beautifully iced cut-out cookies were always anticipated gifts for those living near, and those fortunate enough to make her mailing list.
She was a great supporter of her children's activities; attending numerous cross country meets, plays, recitals, and band concerts. In recent years, she enjoyed watching her granddaughters' swim meets, dance recitals, and competitions. She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed reading, watching a good movie, and spending time with friends and family.
Jean is survived by Ron, her husband of 54 years, her children, Jennifer (Mark) Niedfeldt of Mequon and Jon (Nicole) Wenninger of Appleton, and three granddaughters: Madeline, Meg, and Meredith Niedfeldt.
She is further survived by brothers: H.J. “Duke” Thomas and James (Nancy) Thomas, both of Appleton; and three sisters: June (Bill) Farquhar of Appleton; her twin, Jan (Larry) Van Boxtel of Prior Lake Minnesota; and Linda (Carl) Hauser of Menasha; brothers-in-law: Jim (Gail) Wenninger of and Bob (Noreen) Wenninger, both of Green Bay; sisters-in-law: Rose Marie (Mel) Hertzfeld of Appleton and Pat Wenninger of Green Bay;
along with numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marion Thomas; brother, Daniel Thomas; and brother- in-law, Harold “Bud” Wenninger.
Per Jean's wishes, she will be cremated. There will be no services. Memorials in her name should be donated to the Kaukauna Public Library. Online condolences can be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.
She wanted to thank the many physicians who had treated her through the years. She also deeply appreciated the efforts of ThedaCare at Home Hospice and the family members and friends who made possible her desire to spend the remainder of her time at home
