Connell, Jean E.
Jean E. Connell, 63 years, of Appleton, passed away at Cherry Meadows on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. Jean was born on July 19, 1946, in Appleton to the late George and Florence (Hall) Connell. She graduated from Xavier High School in 1965. She was employed at Zwicker Knitting Mill for over 25 years, then went on to other occupations until her final employment at Copper Leaf. Jean was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was involved in the choir and also as an administrative assistant. She was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Jean also proudly served in the Civil Air Patrol. She was an ardent crocheter and made many afghans for the family. Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and had many fun times at the family lake home. Survivors include her sisters, Joanne Gosz, and Judy (Dick) Earl; and her brother, James (Donna) Connell. She had nine nieces and nephews, Michael (Nancy) Gosz, Kathryn (Steve) Lampi, Kelly (Carol) Gosz, Peter (Shelly) Gosz, Cindy (Sean) Coughlin, Craig Earl, James (Kelly) Connell, Sharalee (Eric) Fleisch and Melinda Connell; and fourteen great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Lawrence “Hank” Gosz. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Oncology Department, as well as the staff at Cherry Meadows for the care given to Jean and her family. The family also wishes to give special thanks to her neighbors. They gave help and support to Jean so she was able to stay in her home. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2010, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 S. State Street, Appleton, with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9:30 a. m. until the time of services. A memorial has been established in Jean's name to benefit St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton or the Humane Society.
