Jean Ann "Jeannie" Schmit

Jean Schmit, age 86, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Emerald Valley Assisted Living. She was born on November 7, 1928 in Appleton, to the late John and Elsie (Hermann) Knabenbauer. On September 24, 1977 she married the love of her life Earl Schmit. She was a faithful member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Neenah. Jeannie was a long time employee of Voith-Allis. Earl and Jeannie loved walking their dogs Teddy and Mojo and traveling together. She enjoyed spending time in the flower garden, feeding the birds, reading and cheering on the Packers. Most of all, Jeannie loved spending time with her family and friends.

Jean is survived by her special great niece and caregiver Dawn Ahrens-Trams; nephew Gary (Julie) Knabenbauer; and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, six brothers and their spouses, nieces: Barbara Ahrens and Judith (Milo) Burzynski, and close friend Duane Trams.

The funeral service for Jean will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, June 1, 2015 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL with Rev. Jeff Prewitt officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until the time of service.
