To the Schwandt Family~ Mrs. Schwandt was my HS English teacher and Track Coach and Jane a friend in recent years. Jane impacted my life in so many positive ways and I will miss her. Jane Steffen left a message on August 28, 2009:
Bill, and family, My deepest condolences to you. You have lost a great family member, we have lost a great teacher and friend. I remember "Mrs. Schwandt" as a great teacher and mentor, but also as "Jane" a good friend. When I graduated high school and started babysitting Lea and Isaac, she always wanted me to call her Jane. I had difficulty doing it even when I saw her in church. To me it was a sign of respect that she definately deserved, and she will always have. So to you Mrs. Scwandt, we will all love and miss you always.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

My deepest thoughts and prayers are with you all. I hope that reading all the wonderful anecdotes about such a wonderful woman and teacher will help to ease the pain. I am a former student of Mrs. Schwandt's and I am on my way to becoming a teacher myself. I begin student teaching this year at Shiocton Elementary. I want you to know that Mrs. Schwandt was one of those teachers that influenced me to pursure teaching. I just wish that I would have been able to tell her that in person. I pray that she will be able to tell her someday. Prayerfully, Robin

The world is missing a wonderful lady tonight. "Miss Rahn" (to me)was so much apart of the best part of my high school years. Drama Club, always being there to listen, making everyone feel like they were special. Everyone should be so blessed to have had a teacher like her to remember! You will never be forgotten, "mom". :)

Bill and family, My heart is so saddened. Jane was such a dear friend and confidant! Many moments/hours were spent with heart felt 'talks'. We laughed together, cried together, worried together, and sometimes didn't give a dang together. Everytime I make Pretzel Salad, I will think of Jane. Every spring when my little flowers that wave in the breeze bloom, I will be reminded of Jane (who gave me the flowers) and when I think of Las Vegas, I will remember the fun that Jane, Leah, Joe and I had there! I am so glad that Jane allowed me to be a part of her life, she will be deeply missed! I send lots of love and prayers to all of you! Kay
