I met Jim when I was 8 years old, and saw him every day afterwards for many years. He saved my father (Ron Steward's)life and my families, by helping my dad recover, and being his mentor for years while working by his side at The Mooring House. My father passed 13 years ago from Cancer. Whenever I think of my father I also thought of Jim and all the family birthdays and holidays I spent with them at The Mooring House. THANK YOU JIM FOR HELPING MY FATHER THROUGH THE TOUGHEST TIMES IN HIS LIFE, MY MOTHER PASSING AND BATTLING HIS KIDNEY DISEASE AND CANCER. I am sure Jim is shaking my father's hand right now ready to support my father and many others in heaven as he did on earth.

Dad, you are, always have been, and always will be, my Hero. Thank you for teaching me the true meaning of love, acceptance and compassion. You will forever live in my heart.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

The green flag was dropped. You took off in a roar. Along the way you incountered a few yellow flags, and even a red one or two. We both went on to find greater happiness. The checkered flag has flown and you are home. It was one heck of a race and you have won. The ups, the downs, the highs and lows, throughout it all you have shined. I will forever cherish what we did have, what we lost and what we have found. Rest in peace, Jim, rest in peace. Marilyn R. Malkus

On November 1, 1987, Jim found a room for me at the Mooring House when there wasn't a room available. That was the magic of Jim. I have been sober since, and while Jim would never agree, I am alive today because of him. Jim would never take the credit, insisting that I did the work. Without his love and compassion that day, and many, many days after, I am sure I would not be here today. I will forever be grateful that I was blessed to have met, studied, worked with, played golf with and simply knew Jim. Thousands of people are better off for having had Jim in their lives. Amen. Peace and Love to Helen and Jim's family.

A fine man that demonstrated a calm acceptance of life in general and the cards that were dealt to him; but also a genuine unconditional acceptance of others. Jim exuded a Christian faith that many only profess in words or mere church attendance.

Jim Hoeller was one of the noblest men to grace this planet. He had a heart of gold for people and would give all he had to see them make the right choices to change their lives. He put others first, was non judgmental and had an infectious laugh that came busting out of his kindred spirit. How he affected lives and ran the CASI/Mooring House will never be repeated. I’m sure he and Jerry are having fun reminiscing. Prayers and condolences to the family. The Lord Jesus Christ gave us a good one. He will be missed terribly.

Although I haven't seen as much of Jim these last several years as I would have liked, he has always been close to my heart. I am here today because of Jim. He was the strongest influence in my recovery which will mark 33 years on Friday. Jim, you have been an angel on earth for many many people. You now take your rightful place among the angels in heaven.
