I remember Jim hired me for the weight room the summer I left to go in the Navy. Jim drove me home and wished me well the day before I left for Milwaukee. I always appreciated him giving me that job, even though I wasn't the best athlete. Sorry I'm so late on sharing this memory

Gerri, Derron and Chad, I too, want to extend my condolences and gratitude for the significant impact Jim had on my wife, Peggy. I swear to this very day she has been proving to Jim that she was worthy of his blessings and gifts as her teacher. Although I was fortunate to have experienced 3 years of math education with Mr. Bohne, I do believe my wife Peggy was profoundly affected by his genuine, caring support as she ventured through Math 3 & Calc I. We are glad you both were able to join us when Peg was awarded Presidential fnalist for math teaching. Jim has been and forever will be her foundation in education. We send you our deepest sympathy and support. He will always be with you.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss... I had Mr. Bohne in 1979-80 school years at Kimberly HS. He was a good natured person who was sure to spend whatever time it took to help you understand an idea. Great teacher...

I keep very fond memories of Jim as my math teacher in high school. More than a teacher, he actively nurtured me and those around me. He had a profound ability to inspire a love of not just knowledge, but of understanding. It was clear to me even as a high school student that Jim Bohne 'saw' a future in his students. His simple act of talking to me about my future and challenging me with the gift of a math book was profound. I am indebted to him and will celebrate with you his contributions to many lives.

To Jim's Family: I'm sorry for the loss that you have suffered with Jim's passing. As a former student of his, I can truly say that he was one of those influential people with the ability to open one's eyes to the world of mathematics! His teaching style really encouraged and inspired his students to learn. He fostered in me a love for math, and my career as an engineer is due in no small part to his encouragement. Jim was an incredible person, and I'm sorry that I'm writing this in a guestbook instead of telling him in person. Jim, if you're reading this, thanks for the push!

To the Bohne Family My sincere condolences to the family at the loss of a great man. I wanted his family to know that he had a great impact on my children who all went to Kimberly schools. My daughter became an accountant because of Mr. Bohne and how he taught her. She enjoyed his classes and he helped her to reach her potential and goals. He was a great teacher and person and will be missed by all who knew him. God Bless him and your family.

We were so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. As a fellow teacher and former student, I appreciate the positive impact Jim has had in our community. I was a senior in high school when Jim joined the staff at KHS. Jim brought a certain energy to the classroom that students appreciated. He balanced a love for his profession with his respect for each and everyone of his students. Kind and compassionate people are never forgotten. Jim will remain in the hearts of many of his former students for a long time. Please accept our condolences during this difficult time. Jim will be remembered in our prayers. Peggy Hartwig left a message on April 18, 2009:
I am so sorry to hear that Jim has passed. Jim changed my life. My future was significantly impacted because of how he handled my lack of concern for education as a Junior @ KHS. He Challenged me and then continued to help and encourage me - inspiring me to become a math teacher. Jim and I continued our mentor - mentee relationship during my college years and college and throughout my different teaching assignments. He was like a professional parent; I would not be where I am today, if it were not for his consistent, stern, yet caring approach. Very few people can understand the Profound impact Jim had on changing my life. He will always live in me and my spirit of teaching. Every Year - I begin by telling my story and how Jim Bohne changed my life- I have my report cards mounted on a special laminated poster where Jim Challenged me to get an A in his "MATH 3" and by 4th quarter, I had learned a lot more than just how to get an A!!- Jim saved My life- I owe all my teaching accomplishments to him as he isthe foundation of my success and his spirit of teaching will forever remain with me. May God grant you and your family Peace. {{Hugs}} Peggy Hartwig NBCT Motivator 4 Mathematics Marshfield, WI

Kathy (Schroeder) Smith left a message on April 17, 2009:
A comment made by Mr. Bohne over 30 years ago has impacted my teaching career. As a struggling geometry student, he didn't give me the failing grade that I deserved because, in his words, "Kathy, I can't fail you. You try too hard." I try to apply that same attitude to the special education students I work with daily. Thank you, Mr. Bohne.

Dear Mrs. Bohne, Chad and Derron, I was saddened to hear about your beloved loss, Mr. Bohne. I loved his smiling face and sense of humor. Maybe that sense of humor was why he was so good at teaching geometry! Even though he would pick on my "Pi" intellegence, I knew he really wanted the best for me. I can only hope to be the teacher he was. Very sincerely, Polly Hietpas
