Age 65, passed away Wednesday morning, October 3, 2001, at Hospice at Cherry Meadows, Appleton. He was born September 22, 1936 to the late Benjamin and Edna (Sayers) Gunderson, in the town of Maine, Wisconsin. Jim graduated from Clintonville High School in 1954 and was employed by Wisconsin Natural Gas Company, taking an early retirement in 1994. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing sheepshead, gardening, he had a love for antiques and his grandchildren’s artwork and traveled as much as possible. Jim is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Christine Gunderson, Weyauwega; a daughter, Paula Gunderson and her special friend, Scott Tanner, Appleton; a son, Erik Gunderson, Neenah; four grandchildren, Dylan Maass Gunderson, Ethan, Meta and Maya Gunderson, all of Weyauwega. Jim is further survived by seven sisters, Murleen Riehl, Erma Tyler, Carmen Winsentsen, Grace Owen, Vera Conlon, Ruth Buelow and Kathryne Wick; four brothers, Russell, Harland, John and Leon Gunderson; many nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. His “little friend” will be deeply missed by his brother, Jim (Bob) Colter. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julia D. Gunderson, on April 23, 2001, a sister June Brandt and two brothers, Earl and Merle Gunderson. A memorial service for James will be held at 6:00 pm, Friday, October 12, 2001, at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 pm, Friday, until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers donation in Jim’s name may be made to the AMC Foundation for the Martha Siekman Cancer Center.

Once upon a memory, someone wiped away a tear, held us close and loved us. We’ll love you forever, we’ll like you for always, as long as we live, our grandpa you’ll be.
