James Arthur Strobl

February 4, 1937 — February 17, 2011

James A. Strobl, he fought the good fight for over 25 years and on February 17, 2011 he decided it was time to say good-bye. James was born February 4, 1939 in Appleton, a son of Joseph and Theresa (Wankey) Strobl. James married Mary Ann Stoegbauer on October 8, 1966.

James is and always will be one of the strongest men you will have ever known. James was a graduate from the Northwestern Military Academy, once located in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. He was an excellent marksman and is the only man that once shot 26 out of 25 birds while trap shooting. Before his health took a turn for the worse, he loved to fish, hunt, and camp with his family. He had a heart of gold with a profound love for nature. His favorite car was the Corvette. Throughout his tender life he displayed his passion for all animals. He took comfort in his family cats and recently enjoyed the playful company of Julio's dogs. He was meticulous at everything that he did and he was gracious enough to share his expertise with everyone he came into contact with. He was a man of few words, but the words he spoke profoundly impacted those he loved.

James is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Appleton, four daughters, Jennifer (Todd) Bagley of Sussex, WI, Suzanne (Jon) Berkers of Garden Grove CA, Francheska “Julio” Vaughn (fiancée' David Maki) of Shakopee MN, and Betsy Strobl (special friend Justin Thoma) of Milwaukee, WI; a sister, Patricia Seidler of Appleton, sisters-in-law, Suzanne (Michael) Cook, Christine Stoegbauer, a brother-in-law, William (Bernadette) Stoegbauer, three grandchildren, Zachary Ellis Bagley, Jessica Christine Bagley, and Calvin John Berkers; five nieces, Lora (Michael) Kibbee, Sara (Eric) Lea, Gwen (Seidler), Bonnie Leach, and Monica (Craig) Thoma, and one nephew, Michael (Stephanie) Stoegbauer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four grandchildren, Francine Dovin Strobl, Raven Starr Strobl, Miles Thelonipus Strobl, and Leopold Dane Berkers, brother-in-law, Jerome Seidler, father-in-law, Aloysius Stoegbauer and mother-in-law, Alvera Stoegbauer
