Jacob John Siebers

March 30, 1985 — February 24, 2018

We are heartbroken to share that our dear Jacob passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018. He would have been 33 on March 30, 2018. Jake was a beloved son, favorite brother, incredible uncle, and a beautiful person with shining, deep blue eyes.

Jake was a Wisconsin guy through and through; he showed his love for the state in a tattoo over his heart. His childhood was highlighted first by playing outside and stomping in puddles with his froggy boots, and later by Cottage fun, where he skied and tubed with his sisters and cousins; Boy Scout experiences, where he developed a love for backpacking; and family road trip adventures.

More recently, Jake delighted in spending time with Lyndon, Auden, and Ezra, and he cherished snuggling with Elodie. His love for them could be seen in the twinkle of his eyes. His zest for life, wit, and energy brought joy to so many. With his large and generous heart, Jake often put others before himself. Jake had an adventurous spirit, an eclectic taste in music, and a pretty good golf game. Jake was also an avid Packers fan and team shareholder. He enjoyed the camaraderie of the game-day experience and shared many memories with friends and family at Lambeau Field.

Jake attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he studied history and discovered his love for rugby. Over his fourteen years as part of the Oshkosh Rugby Football Club, he was a player, coach, and ambassador. Jake was endlessly dedicated to his boys on the team and their merriment on and off the field.

Also during his time in Oshkosh, Jake began working at Jimmy John’s. What began as a part-time college job soon blossomed into a proud career, where he was a valued colleague, dedicated area manager and trusted friend.

Jake felt things in life so acutely, and along with experiencing great joy, he hurt from emotional struggles. Despite his genuine and enduring relationships with people he loved and who loved him, he felt lonely and could no longer withstand the overpowering feelings.

Jake’s memory will live on through his loving parents, John and Tina Siebers of Appleton; his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Monica and Isaac Uitenbroek and Anna and Daniel Narvey; nephews Lyndon, Auden, and Ezra; and niece Elodie. Also carrying his memory are his grandmothers, Marie DeKeyser and Gloria Siebers, and countless special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Jake joins his Grandpa Cliff and Uncle Sal in peace.

The family invites you to consider a donation in Jake’s name to the Northeast Wisconsin Mental Health Connection or an organization dedicated to the development of teamwork and sportsmanship in youth. A fund has been established through the No Wrong Door Initiative, designed to increase access to mental health services. Checks in his name may be made out to NEW Mental Health Connection, PO Box 374, Appleton, WI 54912.

The memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Online condolences can be shared at www.wichmannfargo.com.
