Jackie J. Vial

Jackie J. Vial Sr. passed away on May 13, 2008 at the Appleton Medical Center. Jack was the son of the late Sidney and Gertrude (Henke) Vial of Ishpeming, Michigan. Jack was an avid fisherman and loved spending time in his woodworking shop as well as winters in Arizona. He took great pleasure in spending time with his family and friends. Jack was a twenty-year retiree from the U.S. Coast Guard and retired from Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company after eighteen years of service. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War where he had the opportunity to travel the globe.

He leaves behind his wife of fifty-two years: Sharon Vial of Menasha; and his large and loving family of seven children: Lonnie Vial of Kaukauna; Thom Vial of Kaukauna; Kathy Cork of Negaunee, Michigan; Julie (Kevin) Skogman of Kaukauna; Jack (Michele) Vial Jr. of Green Bay; Mike (Shelly) Vial of Suring; and Tim (Gretchen) Vial of South Berwick, Maine; sixteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Jack is further survived by three brothers: Sidney Vial of Ishpeming, Michigan; Richard (Jackie) Vial of Neenah; and David (Sue) Vial of Scandinavia, Wisconsin. Jack will also be missed by special friends of the family: Steve Leonard of Kaukauna and Gerry Grant of Negaunee, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Thomas A. Vial.

A memorial service for Jack will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Tim Albrecht officiating. Full military honors will conclude the service. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established

Farewell to Jack on his final journey home. He will be dearly missed.
