Dear Dungars, We just watched your Mom's lovely service - so nice that you were able to have a funeral - although certainly a much smaller attendance than would have been in non-Covid19! Your Mom always had a bright smile and her caring ways will be missed. We hope that your fun and wonderful memories of your Mom will help sustain you all. Love, John & Debbie Patterson

Jackie was a very special person to me and the entire Xavier community. I will keep her and the Dungar and Bertram families in my prayers. Her smile, cheerfulness, and class will be missed. Considering her wonderful family and the example she set for so many, there are not many people who have had such a positive impact on their world as she did. Her legacy will continue on for many, many decades through her family. May God be with you all at this difficult time.

Your Mother certainly was very special person. She was an amazing leader at St Mary’s. Two weeks ago I was at the cemetery and stopped at your Dad’s grave, and prayed for Jackie, not knowing she would be so close to death. I will plan to watch the funeral at the graveside at St Mary’s Cemetery. My prayers are with you as I thank God for a life well lived.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

“Wein! (my father called me) Mrs. Dungar is coming for her sauce tonight!” That’s what I heard after putting my purse down at work (Franks Pizza Palace) the same spring weekend for as many years as I can remember. That meant have ready: A five gallon bucket filled with four gallons of sauce for Mrs. Dungars Italian booth at the Xavier Food Fair. Like clockwork, same order, same delicious sauce, same weekend, year after year. That same night Mrs. Dungar would scurry in the front door of Franks, (always smiling) wouldn’t have to say a word (but her & Dad always had a quick friendly shout out between the counter and the pizza bench) and a Franks cook would walk up from the back cooler sporting her five gallon bucket with her four gallons of sauce and proceed to follow her out on to College Avenue & load it in her car. They had that special ‘Italian heritage’ connection...after all, everyone knows, both Italians arrived in Appleton in the early 50’s and before that, everyone knows , there weren’t any last names in the phone book, before that, that ended in a vowel...before that of course, now everyone knows. Jackie was a special person who left behind a legacy. I will always remember her friendliness and willingness to help. I also remember coming early to Foodfest so that I could buy her lasagna [it was the best]

My heartfelt sympathy to Steve and the entire Dungar family. Jackie was such a treasure to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her smile always touched my heart. She had a way of making one feel like they were the most important person in the world. God bless you as you adjust to life without her. She will be sorely missed.

Dear Jackie and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom certainly earned all her Mother's Day celebrations! lol I always enjoyed coming to your house. It was filled with so much chaos and love! Chaos in a good way because your mom didn't seem to care how many of your friends filled the house. She welcomed us all with a smile. Good times were had by all of us from hanging out in the basement watching tv, to writing our name and phone number on the upstairs hall wall, to playing in the backyard play house. I will miss running into your mom at church and will always consider her a pillar of St. Marys. ( and, one of my favorite childhood moms :) )

Jackie is a woman who was deeply loved by those who knew her...a reflection of the love she gave to others. She DID always call me Dolly...as you said....the only other person who called me that was my beloved deceased mother.... May she rest in peace after a life well lived and may we all cherish those memories of our time with this great lady. God bless.
Julie Sabish left a message on June 10, 2020:
