Irene E. Matas

Born on October 30, 1914 on a small farm near Chesterton, Indiana, Irene Eleanor Matas passed away, peacefully , at home on the evening of Monday, November 28th , at the age of 97.

She was a hard worker all her life and liked most to be kept busy. She would say, “What can I do now?” She excelled in cooking, baking, sewing, and being the best Mother and Grandma to all. She is survived by her most loving and caring son Rudolph Ronald Matas “Rudy” age 71, and her two grandchildren; Erin Sue Matas, age 34 and Eric Jon Matas, age 36.

The funeral liturgy for Irene will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH (222 E. Fremont St).
