Age 97, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Appleton Medical Center. Hilda was born on May 24, 1911 in Colby, Wisconsin the daughter of the late William and Anna (Meinke) Witte. She married Raymond Kriplean in 1928, and they shared 58 wonderful years before he preceded her in death on December 16, 1986. Hilda was a kind-hearted woman who had a very special gift of befriending anyone who met her. She donated her time making crafts for the Volunteers at Appleton Medical Center during her younger years, and was a long-time member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Appleton. She made her crafts with love, and also enjoyed decorating and baking, and cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter: Joyce Kranzusch, Appleton; grandchildren: James (Mary) Werner, Sister Bay, Paul (Jan) Werner, Appleton, Jill (Ed) Hartzheim, Black Creek, David (Karin) Werner, Switzerland, John (Joyce) Kranzusch, Florence; great grandchildren: Ben, Lacey, Olivia, Frances, Jeri, Vicki, Dana, Luca, Ryan, Tracy, Robert, Cynthia; great-great grandchildren: Brandon and Jerad; as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her loving husband, Raymond, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Dorothy Werner; an infant daughter: Janice; sons-in-law: Eugene Werner and John Kranzusch; great grandchildren: Jessica, Jacqueline, and Scott; her sister: Elsie; and her brother: Edwin.

Funeral services for Hilda will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at the Wichmann Funeral Home (537 North Superior Street) with Rev. Darin Aden officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
