POLLARD, HELENE P.

Helene Pollard, 85, of Appleton, passed away early Tuesday morning on June 15, 2010 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born in Milwaukee on February 25, 1925, to the late August and Helene (Hackbarth) Zastrow. Helene was employed at Wisconsin Telephone Company for more than 20 years, retiring in 1984. She was active with the Telephone Pioneers and other volunteer projects for many years. In later years, it was her wish to see her grandson Alex graduate from college and her granddaughter Kristina get married. She was able to fulfill that wish.

Helene will be sadly missed by her daughter: Barbara Lukas, Appleton; stepson: Jeff (LuAnn) Pollard, Appleton; grandchildren: Alex Lukas, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Brad (Kim Schabell) Pollard, Green Bay and Kristina (JJ) Schauske, Appleton; and her brother: Clarence (Jean) Zastrow, Slinger. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. Helene was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Pollard; her sons: Paul and Robert Lukas and many brothers and sisters.

The funeral service for Helene will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Kenneth L. Frey officiating. The visitation will take place from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Interment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield. Memorials to St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton are appreciated.
