Helen M. Knuit

Helen M. Knuijt, age 81, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born on August 18, 1936 to the late Howard and Josephine Hoffman. She was united in marriage to James Knuijt on February 11, 1956 and together they were blessed with six children. Helen enjoyed gardening, going to rummage sales and watching her beloved Green Bay Packers- as well as other football games. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by her three sons, Joe (Ann) Knuijt; John (Lana) Knuijt and Dave Knuijt; her two daughters, Jean (Guy) Patzke and Judy (Bob) Heller; eight grandchildren, Joe (Karrie), Jason (Michelle), Robbie, David, Christopher (Rachael), Shawn, Jacob and Hope and six great-grandchildren. Helen is further survived by three sisters, Barb (Tom) Pottner, Mary Lou (Bob) Grapentine and Sue (Tom) Martin; two sisters-in-law, Dolly Hoffman and Carol Hoffman as well as many nieces, nephews and other dear family members.

In addition to her parents Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her son, Jeff; granddaughter, Julie; four brothers, Dick, Fred, Chuck and Bob and an infant brother.

The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont Street in Appleton. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Helen’s name. Helen’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mark Heifner who always provided excellent care for Helen, also to Dr. Leonard and Dr. Johnson and the nursing staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Helen was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandma and will be deeply missed.
