of Appleton, age 87, passed away on Tuesday August 28, 2007 at Franciscan Care Center, Appleton. Helen was born on May 24, 1920 in Appleton, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Goetz) Kraus. She worked at Zwicker Knitting Mills, 41 bowl, and at Lawrence University retiring in 1982. Helen married Ralph H. Brandt on May 17, 1947, and he preceded her in death in 1982. Helen loved to dance, Polka, play piano, and travel. She especially enjoyed crochet and made many doilies and afghans. Helen is survived by her daughter Barbara (John) Rutten, Appleton; brother in law, Joseph (Rose) Kraus, Grand Chute; sister’s in law, Dawn, Marge, and Dorothy Kraus, Ione Hanson, and Frances Woehler. She is also survived by her son in law John’s children; Timothy (Cheryl), Theodore (Kelly), William (Kathy) Rutten, and Julie (Al) Hoerning. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Gordon, Vincent, and Edward Kraus; brothers in law, Chester Brandt, Lloyd “Bud” Harrison, and Harold Woehler. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M., on Friday August 31, 2007 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton with Fr. Thomas J. Farrell officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. A memorial is being established.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Franciscan Care Center for all of the care given to Helen.
