Helen Emmers

Helen E. Emmers, age 95, of Appleton passed away on December 9, 2015 at Garden View Assisted Living after a short illness. She was born on February 4, 1920, in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Horvath) Micholic. She married Mark Emmers September 20, 1941, sharing 54 years together before his death in 1995. Helen was an original member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church.

Helen was a past member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, St. Ann's Society and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 265, all in Darboy. She worked at the Darboy Club for 34 years, mostly for Junior Salm. She enjoyed baking, gardening and traveling. After she retired in 1995, she looked forward to walking and weekly charity sewing at St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

Helen is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law: Mark (Mariel) Emmers Jr., Gary (Darlene) Emmers, Pat Emmers and Bruce (Ann) Emmers; five grandchildren: Tara, Shay, Lance, Brian and Elise; four great grandchildren: Evan, Austin, Lillian and Cameron; sister-in-law: Middy Emmers; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother: Paul (Millie) Micholic; four sisters; Mary Revoir, Ann (Art) Engel, Margaret (Arnold) Grishaber, and Dolores (Eugene) Delcore; four brothers-in-law; Elmer Horn, Joseph Grishaber, George Schwalbach, and Henry Emmers Jr.; and three sisters-in-law: Marion Horn, Eunice Grishaber and “Honey” Schwalbach.
She was a devoted wife and mother, generous to relatives and friends. Putting others first brought her good health and spiritual fulfillment.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2015 at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 E. Lourdes Dr., Appleton, with Father Donald Zuleger officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Kaukauna. The visitation will be held at church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
