Age 94, died on Thursday, July 5, 2001 at Colony Oaks Care Center. Hazel was born on April 20, 1907 in the Town of Ellington, daughter of the late Herman and Ida (Ort) Loos. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Ellington. Hazel married Harold Wunderlich on December 16, 1933, and they enjoyed 38 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death in 1971. Following their marriage, Hazel and Harold farmed for 12 years in the
Town of Center. They moved to Appleton in 1946, and joined Mt. Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church; where Hazel was active in the Ladies Aid and Alter Guild. Hazel was a schoolteacher for 17 years. She also lived in Little Chute for 5 years. Hazel will be greatly missed by her children, Ruth (Ron) Staudenraus, Meridian, Idaho; Janet (Eric) Skuldt, Rochester, Minnesota; Ronald Wunderlich, Larsen, Wisconsin; her 8 grandsons, Joe (Kathryn) and Ted Staudenraus; Timothy (Cheryl), Daniel and Keith Wunderlich; James (Jen), Dean (Juliet) and Jon Skuldt; her 4 great-grandchildren; and her 2 sisters-in-law, Elmyra and Nathalie Wunderlich. She is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Hazel is preceded in death by her infant son; her sisters and their spouses, Hertha (Arnold) Jentz and Virginia (Melvin) Poppe; her brother and his wife, Orville (Zeda) Loos; her sisters-in-law, Edna Bleick; Hilda Stoker; Ruth Schulze; Evelyn Larabee; and her brothers-in-law, Ora, Carlye, Roy, and Walter Wunderlich. Hazel’s Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 7, 2001, at MT. OLIVE EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 East Florida Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Stephen Pope officiating. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Ellington. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday, July 7 from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to benefit Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and Fox Valley Lutheran High School.
