HATTIE HERMSEN
(nee Vandenberg)

Age 98, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2002, at Rennes Health Care Center. Hattie was born on May 3, 1904, in Little Chute to the late Albert and Nellie (Hurkman) Vandenberg. On June 14, 1941, she was united in marriage to Herbert Hermsen at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute. With her husband, they owned and operated Northside Hardware in Appleton until their retirement. Hattie was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Ladies of St. Thomas More and St. Vincent DePaul Society. Survivors include her sister, Elva (Herbert) Dorn, Appleton, brother and sister-in-law Wilbert and Lila (Radtke) Vandenberg, Appleton, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband (1991), two sisters, Mabel Bongers and Lorraine McInnis, and three brothers, Joseph, Norbert and Arnold. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2002, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1825 North McDonald Street, Appleton, with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. The family would like to thank Fr. Gerald Falk, Sr. Mary Rose, Sr. Betty, and the staff and nurses at Rennes Health Center for their wonderful care of Hattie.
