Harvey W. Hoes

March 26, 1945 — October 10, 2010

Harvey Hoes, age 65, passed away unexpectedly this past weekend while spending time at his cabin in Marinette County. Harvey was born March 26, 1945 in Norway, Michigan, son of the late Leo and Anna (Amond) Hoes. After graduation from high school, he entered the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War from 1964 until 1967. On October 28, 1967, he married the former Bonnie Gabrielson in Niagara, she survives. From 1969 until his retirement in 2006, Harvey worked for Duralam in Appleton, a local company that makes films for food packaging. After his retirement, he kept busy with his part-time job at Warning Lites.

Harvey enjoyed hunting and fishing, and absolutely loved baseball. He was a fan of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and was also a former board member for the Appleton Foxes. He also loved horse pulling and was a member of the Wisconsin Horse Pullers Association. He was also a loving grandfather, and faithfully attended his grandchildren's many activities.

Harvey is survived by his wife: Bonnie Hoes of Menasha; two daughters: Liz (Steve) Lonigro of Little Chute and their children Brady, Megan, and Jordan; and Angie (Lee) Schneider of Neenah and their children Maxwell and Samantha; a brother: Melvin Hoes of Vulcan, Michigan and his children Edwin, Sue Ellen, and Alan Hoes, all of Manitowoc. He is also survived by Bonnie's sisters: Mary Ann Uren of Manitowoc, Mae Giesen of Norway, Michigan, and Theresa (Jerome) Baumgartner of Iron River. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, a brother-in-law Tom Uren, a sister-in-law Karen Hoes, and by Bonnie's parents, Florence and Joe LeFleur.

Funeral services with full military honors for Harvey will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Wichmann Funeral Home in Menasha, with Deacon Rick Simon of St. Pius X Catholic Church officiating. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

Harvey was a easy-going and generous man who made friends with everyone very quickly. His many friends are too many to mention, but each of you was dear to his heart. We know you will miss him as much as we will.

You left us so unexpectedly and we weren't ready to let you go, but we know that you were where you loved to be – up north at the cabin. We will miss your smile, your laughs, and your jokes. Thanks for everything you did for us. We love you and will see you in heaven. Love, Bonnie, Liz, and Angie.

Grandpa, we are happy to have had the time we had with you. We loved kidding around and we'll miss seeing you in the stands cheering for us. We will never forget you. Love, Brady, Megan, Jordan, Max, and Sammy.
